With the exception of your first initial session (which is a Diagnostic Assessment Session - $200) the rate for one, 60 minute EMDR psychotherapy session is $160.

The specific number of EMDR sessions it may take someone ranges and cannot be specifically guaranteed, as this depends on a variety of individual factors that range from person to person. These factors include, but are not limited to: one’s current circumstances (on-going stressors and supports available), the history and severity of one’s past negative and/or traumatic experiences, one’s emotional capacity or ability to tolerate/cope with strong emotions, etc. These factors are part of what will be assessed through completing a diagnostic assessment during your first initial visit. However, see the ‘What will the EMDR Therapy process look like?’ question below to get a ‘ballpark’ idea on average number of sessions.

Typically, the first 1-4 sessions (which includes an initial diagnostic assessment) are focused on history taking, building a trusting therapeutic relationship, developing a custom EMDR therapy treatment plan (that is specific to you and your presenting problem) and completing preparation work for EMDR reprocessing sessions.
Your personalized EMDR therapy treatment plan will determine for you (a minimum of) 3 past root target experiences (or ‘targets’) to reprocess in EMDR. These 3 root targets relate directly to your current presenting problem. It typically takes anywhere from 1-6 sessions to complete one target. Clients have reported they start noticing changes or results after completing their first 3 EMDR targets. Some clients wish to complete just 1 EMDR therapy treatment plan and then discharge, while others wish to work on multiple issues requiring multiple EMDR treatment plans (this is up to the client’s discretion).
EMDR therapy sessions typically run on a weekly basis (One, 60 minute session per week).

I use EMDR Therapy exclusively as my main therapy modality and treatment approach, however, talk therapy sessions are/can be integrated into the EMDR therapy model.
EMDR Therapy has 8 phases - Phases 1-3 are the 'talk therapy' phases, so to speak. Some people may need to stay in those phases longer/for more sessions before jumping into EMDR target reprocessing (which is phases 4-7). This need will be assessed and determined according to each individual client’s need.
According to individual needs, we can also toggle back and forth between talk therapy sessions (phases 1-3) and the EMDR target reprocessing phases (4-7), just with the end goal in mind that we will eventually use EMDR reprocessing to resolve the core presenting issue from the root.
